The smell of smoke, the lingering haze that creates spectacular horizons at dawn, dusk and full moon–these have been the daily occurences for the past three weeks. Temps near 90, humidity 5-10% and relentless winds from 10-50mph. Folks, it’s dry and it’s dangerous. It’s a far cry from the oppressive humidity of Florida.
First SW New Mexico and Arizona (where it has consumed half a million acres and counting.

Haven’t heard a lawn mower all year. It’s precarious and unnerving.
